JAMES ROYAustralian author, James Roy is due to visit St Paul's this coming June. Some students may have heard him speak recently at the Children's Literature Festival at Norman Lindsay Gallery. Others may have read his tales of Billy Mack, or Bridget, or Arky, Gunner and Saxon. When he arrives, we may well hear about the things which inspired the development of these characters. We could also hear some details of his new books, the S Word, a boys' guide to sex, puberty and growing up, and the second book in his steampunk series, Ichabod Hart & the Rainmaker, as he has lots planned for the coming year. |

James had what many might consider as an unusual childhood - with no TV, mobile phone or many of the 'expected' comforts of modern day life. This gave him the opportunity to dream, to imagine and to read. Childhood adventure games combined with some classical literature, to give him the ideas on which to build his stories further down the track. His books include Billy Mack's War (Honour book, CBC Awards 2005), Captain Mack, Full Moon Racing, a Boat for Bridget, and Ichabod Hart & the Lighthouse Mystery. He now lives with his wife and 2 daughters in the Blue Mountains, spending time between writing, speaking events, nursing duties and other interests. For more details see: http://www.jamesroy.com.au/ Further details of his visit will be added later.
