OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD AT ST PAUL'S

Last year over 270,000 needy children in the Asia-Pacific region received gift boxes from children and families in Australia. These may have been the very first gifts these children have ever received!

To take part in Operation Christmas Child, collect a box and information leaflet from the Senior School Library during Term 3. Then, following the instructions, decide whether to fill the box with gifts for a girl or boy, select an age group (Infant, 2-4, 5-9 or 10-16 years old) and have some fun selecting gifts for a needy child. When complete, bring the box (with $8 to cover distribution costs) back to the library from which we will pass things on.

Boxes must be completed by the end of term 3!

Gift ideas

  1. Toys (e.g. balls, puzzles, skippping ropes, musical intruments, games)
  2. Educational supplies (e.g. felt pens, pencils, paper, stickers)
  3. Toiletries (toothbrush, hair brush, washer, wrapped soap, hair clips, etc.)
  4. Something to wear (cap, Tshirt, thongs)
  5. Other (hard lollies, sunglasses, necklaces)
  6. A photo and/or card with a message from you.

Avoid packing:

  • anything second hand - new is special
  • too much extra wrapping (we don't want to pollute their world)
  • breakables
  • lollies and liquids which might break, melt, leak and otherwise spoil the whole gift
  • anything unsafe or unsavoury (e.g. sharp items, war related games)
  • anything of a political racial or religious nature

Are you willing to take part? Challenge your friends? family? tutor group? Make it a thoughtful group activity!

Please see Senior School Library staff for extra details. You can also visit the Samaritan's Purse web site for more details about this activity. Visit the links for Australia for Australia specific details. Reports also available from the library.
